Police in Mogwadi, in the Capricorn District, are investigating a case of rape involving a four-year-old girl at Madikana Village.
According to a police statement, the incident allegedly occurred on Thursday, 04 September 2026. It is alleged that the child’s mother left home at around 09:00 to collect firewood in the veld, leaving her daughter in the care of a neighbour.
Upon returning home at around 19:30, the mother noticed her daughter was complaining of stomach and leg pain. Upon examination, she allegedly observed injuries on the child.
When asked what happened, the child reportedly told her mother that a 28-year-old man known to her had taken her to a secluded area near the graveyard.
The child was taken to hospital for medical examination, where doctors reportedly found evidence consistent with sexual assault.
Police have opened a case of rape and identified a 28-year-old man as a suspect. A manhunt is currently underway to trace and apprehend him. The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is investigating.
