WEATHER WARNING | COGHSTA WARNS LIMPOPO RESIDENTS OF YELLOW LEVEL 2 CONDITIONS

Residents across Limpopo have been urged to remain vigilant as the province experiences Yellow Level 2 severe weather conditions, which could result in localised damage and disruption.

The Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) has called on communities, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to take the necessary precautions.

A Yellow Level 2 warning indicates that severe weather conditions are expected and could pose risks to communities, infrastructure and daily activities.

The conditions may include heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds and hail, with possible impacts such as localised flooding, difficult driving conditions, falling trees, power disruptions and damage to property.

COGHSTA spokesperson Amos Phago has urged residents in areas vulnerable to flooding to exercise caution and avoid crossing flooded roads or streams.

Motorists have also been advised to drive carefully and avoid unnecessary travel where weather conditions deteriorate.

Residents are encouraged to remain indoors during severe thunderstorms where possible, secure loose objects around their homes and continue monitoring official weather updates and warnings.

Authorities are also urging communities to report emergencies and follow instructions issued by disaster management officials.
