Motorists travelling between Polokwane and Dendron are being urged to exercise caution after an overturned Volvo truck continued to block parts of the R521 road near Rita in the Capricorn District on Friday morning.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety says the truck overturned on the R521, creating an obstruction that is affecting the normal flow of traffic.
As of 10:17 on Friday, the truck was still blocking the road.
Traffic officers have been deployed to the scene and are conducting point duty to help motorists pass safely.
Vehicles are currently being allowed to use the shoulder of the road to get past the obstruction.
Motorists using the R521 are advised to approach the affected area with caution, reduce their speed and follow instructions from traffic officers at the scene.
The Department has urged motorists to cooperate with law enforcement officials to prevent further congestion and ensure the safe movement of traffic.
The incident has caused inconvenience for motorists travelling between Polokwane and Dendron, with authorities continuing to manage traffic while the obstruction remains.
The Department of Transport and Community Safety has apologised to motorists for the inconvenience caused.
Motorists are encouraged to remain patient and exercise extra caution when approaching the affected section of the R521.
Authorities have not indicated when the overturned truck will be removed and normal traffic flow restored.
