Three suspects, aged between 37 and 57 were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a security tender worth about R16 million at the Blouberg Local Municipality.
The arrests were made by the Hawks in Polokwane after an investigation into allegations of fraud and corruption. A security company linked to the case has also been charged.
The investigation dates back to 2024, when complaints were made about the way the tender was awarded.
It is alleged that the company that received the contract did not meet all the required conditions. Police claim that some of the information and documents submitted by the company were not genuine.
They also found that some firearm serial numbers used in the tender documents were linked to other security companies. Some certificates and stamps submitted as part of the application were also found to be suspicious.
The three suspects are expected to appear in the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on 25 September 2026 to face charges related to fraud and corruption.
The Hawks have welcomed the arrests and said they remain committed to fighting corruption involving public money.
