Residents gathered early this morning at SABC Park in Polokwane for the “March and March: Until We Win” demonstration.

The protest, which started at 08:00 on Wednesday 30 July 2026, is part of a nationwide wave of action focused on illegal immigration.

Carrying banners that read “NO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION” and “ONE VOICE. ONE NATION. ONE FUTURE.” Participants called on government to enforce immigration laws more effectively.

Organizers argue that undocumented migration is adding pressure to unemployment, public services and safety. They addressed that the march must remain peaceful, with a clear notice on the official poster stating “NO WEAPONS ALLOWED.”

Mogau Wa Modimo, (079 266 7059) and co-organizer Matlala Maremane, (067 845 6957) , urged marchers to stay disciplined and make their voices heard without causing damage.

The protest comes as the debate around migration intensifies nationally. Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia said South Africans have the right to peaceful protest, but warned that criminality and intimidation will not be tolerated.

President Cyril Ramaphosa acknowledged that concerns around illegal immigration are legitimate, but cautioned that demonstrations must not turn violent or xenophobic.
