Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of right-back Deano van Rooyen, despite the club’s injury concerns in the position.
Van Rooyen became a free agent in August after Orlando Pirates confirmed on 21 August 2026 that they had mutually agreed to part ways with the defender.
Sundowns moved for the experienced right-back after injuries to Khuliso Mudau and Zuko Mdunyelwa left the club short of options in the position.
Reports on 5 September indicated that the deal had been finalised, with Van Rooyen set to become Sundowns’ fifth signing of the current transfer window. (thesouthafrican.com)
The 29-year-old now joins the reigning champions as Sundowns look to strengthen their squad despite the injury setbacks.
