Puleng Dimpane, the acting national Police Commissioner informed members of the Parliament that misconduct within the South African Police Service will not be condoned.

Dimpane’s appointment came last week after the suspension of Fannie Masemola. Masemola is facing allegations of breaching the procurement rules in a scrapped 2024 Police health service Tender.

The contract was awarded to businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who is allegedly connected to organized crime. Masemola made a brief court appearance last week on four charges under the Public Finance Act.

The matter was then postponed to the 13th of May. He denies any wrongdoing. According to the Prosecutor, Masemola’ s case will be joined with that of 16 others accused, including Matlala.

On Thursday, Dimpane appeared before the portfolio Committee on Police to table the SAPS budget for 2026/27.

Dimpane, who is currently the Divisional Commissioner for Financial Management Services has almost 2 decades of experience in Policing, governance, and finance.

Dimpane is expected to crack down on procurement irregularities and tighten financial management.
