President Cyril Ramaphosa will decide on what to do regarding the suspension of Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu after the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry completes its work, the said the presidency on Monday the 23rd of February.
Mchunu has been on leave due to the allegations of corruption and trying to interfere in police work.
He still has to provide more evidence to the commission.
The President waits for the final report before making a decision.“The minister is still going to return to the commission. He has not finished giving evidence.
There are still allegations he has to answer,” said Presidential spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya.
Some people are criticizing the President for waiting however, he wants all the facts before taking action.
The commission’s interim report shows serious problems in some sections of the police service. Some actions from the report are already being followed up by an investigative team.
Other individuals involved are as well facing consequences before the final report is released.
The Madlanga Commission, led by retired judge, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, is investigating corruption and interference in the South African Police Service.
Mchunu is expected to return to the commission to give more evidence as the inquiry continues.
