The people’s water forum criticizes government’s neglect in addressing the Johannesburg ‘s concerning water crisis.
The Forum held a media briefing at the Constitution Hill on Wednesday where it emerged that the forum has been attempting to reach the City of Johannesburg, the Gauteng Government, the department of water and Sanitation and also the Presidency but received no response.
Ferrial Adam, the Executive Director of WaterCAN, and the chairperson of the people’s water forum is urging collaboration between communities, government, and the private sector to prevent the situation from becoming worse.
She then mentioned that they have alerted Rand Water to the issue back in 2023 but received no response.
And that meanwhile the government is busy with their things, they are left with no other choice but to speak out.
