1525 Suspects have been arrested in Limpopo Province

The South African Police Service in Limpopo has confirmed the arrest of 1525 Suspects through a high-density operation, known as Operation Shanela from Monday, 15 December until Sunday 21, December. 

The suspects were arrested from multiple offenses including but not limited to, illegal possession of firearms (04), illegal possession of ammunition (03), possession of dangerous weapons (24), dealing in drugs (11), failure to keep records of second-hand goods (01), possession of illicit cigarettes (02), illegal dealing in liquor (84), possession of counterfeit goods (04), possession of drugs (61), aggravated robbery (armed robbery) (01), business robbery (01), robbery at a residence (03), attempted murder (03), murder (07), rape (21), assault GBH (102), common assault (101), illegal migrants (384), driving under the influence of alcohol (99), malicious property damage (43), theft of or from a motor vehicle (03), residential burglary (15), illicit mining (45), and other crimes (496).

The suspects have already started appearing before the magistrates’ courts.
