The beloved Cotton Fest, one of South Africa’s most dynamic celebrations of music and street culture, has officially been cancelled and disbanded.

Organizers confirmed that disagreements among current shareholders have resulted in internal disputes, leading to the difficult decision to end the festival.

This marks the conclusion of a seven-year journey that saw Cotton Fest grow from a local celebration into a nationally recognized cultural movement, uniting fans, artists, and creatives across generations.

Founded in 2019 by the late Riky Rick, Cotton Fest quickly became a platform for emerging talent and a space where fashion, art, and music collided.

It embodied Riky’s vision of uplifting youth culture and fostering collaboration within South Africa’s creative scene.

Over the years, the festival not only amplified local artistry but also built a strong sense of community, one that reflected the vibrant energy and diversity of the country’s urban landscape.

In an official statement, Riky Rick’s partner, Bianca Naidoo, and the Makhado family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continued love and support shown by fans and artists alike.

They acknowledged everyone who contributed to the success of the festival and celebrated the legacy it leaves behind.

Ticket holders for the cancelled event can request full refunds via Webtickets.

Though Cotton Fest has come to an end, its influence on South African culture and its founder’s creative spirit will continue to inspire for years to come.
