The United States has boycotted the G20 summit in South Africa, with President Donald Trump claiming the country is persecuting white Afrikaners.
Trump stated that no American officials would attend the summit, citing “horrific human rights abuses” against white farmers.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has denied these allegations, calling them “blatant misinformation”.
Ramaphosa emphasized that South Africa remains committed to the G20 and will continue to participate in the forum.
The US has also announced that it will not invite South Africa to the 2026 G20 summit in Miami, with Trump stating that the country is “not worthy of membership anywhere”.
