In a spectacular finale held at SunBet Arena, Pretoria ,on the 25th of October, Qhawekazi Mazaleni of the Eastern Cape was crowned Miss South Africa 2025.
Ushering in what the organisation describes as a “new era of leadership, purpose and unity.” Mazaleni, 24, hails from Gonubie in East London, and holds a degree in Speech, Language & Hearing Therapy from Stellenbosch University.
Her win stands out not only for her region, but for her evident passion for youth empowerment and education.
This year’s Miss SA pageant, the 67th edition, marked the first under a refreshed leadership structure — with co-chairs Basetsana Kumalo and Peggy Sue Khumalo with a renewed mission focused on social impact beyond beauty.
The grand evening featured local stars such as Makhadzi, Langa Mavuso and Lordkez, alongside a cash prize of approximately R1 million and other rewards included in the package.
Mazaleni’s platform emphasises mental-health awareness, equitable access to education, and bridging opportunities in underserved communities.
Her acceptance speech highlighted the call to action: “I don’t just wear this crown for myself — I wear it for our youth and our future”, she said.
As Miss South Africa 2025, Qhawekazi Mazaleni begins a year not only of representation, but of purpose-driven leadership.
Her story signals a shift in pageantry: towards women who lead, advocate and inspire beyond the stage.
