The East London Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape, to decide the case against Julius Malema.

The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), along with his former bodyguard, Adriaan Snyman.

When the EFF celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2018 at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, Malema is accused of firing a pistol in public. Snyman, however, is charged with illegally possessing a gun and ammo.

Citing a lack of evidence, Malema and Snyman requested that the allegations against them be dropped; however, their request was denied.

Malema maintained that the case is a political ploy to tarnish his image.
