South African artist Tebogo G Mashego says his tour in Nigeria has left him mistreated, stranded, and unpaid. The 23-year-old, famous for Biri Marung, was seen on social media in tears, describing the trip as a nightmare rather than the career boost he had hoped for.
The tour, which began on 4 December and is scheduled to end on 30 December, was meant to expand his name and relevance. Instead, Tebogo claims he was abandoned and now regrets ignoring warnings from friends.
“I’m not okay. Even now, they left me alone. My friends told me not to come here, but I didn’t listen,” Tebogo said. He added that he is still waiting for royalties from his hit song. “I’m still waiting for Biri Marung money,” he revealed.
He also accused his team of being replaced once he arrived in Nigeria. When he requested a ticket home, he was told the contract prevented it. “I asked them to keep the gig money and let me go back, but they refused,” he said.
Tebogo says the stress of unpaid royalties and withheld payments has deeply affected him. All he wants now is to be paid and return home
