Orlando Pirates have done it again, securing their fourth consecutive MTN 8 Cup victory, putting them just one title away from equalling Kaizer Chiefs’ record.

On Saturday, 13 September 2025, the Buccaneers clashed with all Stellenbosch FC in a tense final. The match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes, leaving both coaches scrambling for solutions as neither team could break the deadlock.

The turning point came in extra time when Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and his technical team made crucial tactical changes. The introduction of Apollis, Mabasa, and Moremi shifted the momentum, leading to a dominant 3-0 victory for Pirates.

Reflecting on the win, Ouaddou remained humble in his assessment.

“It worked, and it doesn’t mean that I’m a better coach than two games ago. I don’t see myself as better than Steve Barker. We had a big, big game. Big respect for the coach — he’s a very good coach with a very interesting team at Stellenbosch,” Ouaddou said.

He added: “It’s a club that is very stable, very intentional for a long time, and we’re happy to win the trophy.”

The win shows Orlando Pirates’ dominance in the MTN 8 competition and brings them closer to a historic milestone in South African football.
