This September, Limpopo has seen significant strides in technological innovation aimed at empowering its youth and communities. The University of Limpopo, in partnership with Samsung and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, expanded its Digital Innovation Lab (DIL).

This initiative provides coding and digital training to young people, preparing them for employment while also encouraging entrepreneurial ventures. The University of Limpopo has launched a new STEM Centre Lab focused on robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), drone technology, and mobile device repair. The facility is not limited to students but also caters for unemployed youth and surrounding communities, creating pathways into the fast-growing technology sector. By bridging the skills gap, the center aims to prepare participants for careers in a digital-first economy.

These innovations are designed to tackle challenges such as youth unemployment and limited digital access while positioning Limpopo into the fourth industrial revolution. By fostering collaboration between government, private partners, and academia, the province is charting a course toward sustainable economic growth and ensuring its communities are future ready.
