Bafana Bafana Set for 16th Battle Against Egypt
The head-to-head record currently gives South Africa the advantage. In their previous 15 encounters, Bafana Bafana have recorded eight victories, while Egypt have won five, with the remaining two matches ending in draws.
However, Egypt will enter the latest meeting with the memory of their most recent clash still fresh. The Pharaohs defeated South Africa 1-0 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, giving them a recent victory over Bafana Bafana.
The upcoming encounter will also be an interesting test for South Africa under Pitso Mosimane, who is back in charge of the Bafana Bafana team. The match takes place in Cairo, giving Egypt home advantage and another challenge for the South Africans.
For Bafana Bafana, the fixture presents an opportunity to add another chapter to their positive historical record against the Pharaohs. Egypt, meanwhile, will be looking to build on their recent success in this fixture.
With two of Africa’s most recognisable national teams going head-to-head, another competitive encounter is expected.
15 meetings. 8 Bafana wins. 5 Egypt wins. 2 draws. Who takes the bragging rights in meeting number 16?
