Police have launched an investigation after the body of an unidentified woman was recovered from a dam in Moroka, Soweto, on Sunday.
The woman’s body, which was wrapped in a duvet, was found on Sunday afternoon. Authorities believe the victim was in her twenties.
The discoveries comes as concerns continue to grow over women found murdered in Gauteng and brings the number of bodies linked to the ongoing investigations to 10.
An inquest docket has been opened as police work to determine what led to the woman’s death. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been established.
Police are calling on anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
