A 37-year-old Giyani woman, has appeared in the Waterval Magistrate’s Court after she was arrested for allegedly defrauding her sister of R1 million.
Police said the money was transferred into the suspect’s bank account for safekeeping. When the complainant later asked for it back, the suspect allegedly refused.
Investigations confirmed that the money had been deposited into the account and was allegedly used for other purposes. The woman handed herself over to police on Friday and was arrested.
The case was postponed to 29 September 2026 for a bail application, while investigations continue.
