Police have opened an inquest docket after unidentified African man’s body was found floating in a shallow stream near a graveyard in Extension 44, Westenburg.
The body was discovered on Monday, 21 September 2026, at about 17:30 after police received information from the Community Service Centre (CSC).
Upon the police arrival, The deceased was found naked, lying face down in the water and in an advanced state of decomposition.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are working to identify the deceased and trace his next of kin.
