A 26 year old man is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court today, 8 September 2026, following his arrest for the alleged possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

The suspect was arrested on 4 September 2026 during a coordinated operation led by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks).

The operation involves members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit based in Germiston, working alongside the Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT) and the Gauteng Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU).

According to the Hawks, the arrest followed intelligence driven information that led investigators to the suspect. During the operation, he was allegedly found in possession of a revolver, ammunition and two cell phones.

Preliminary investigations have further linked the suspect to the murders of two women and police officers who were shot and killed in Reiger Park on 7 August 2026. Investigators are continuing to investigate his alleged involvement in the incident.

The Hawks have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the possibility of additional charges cannot be ruled out as the case.
