Jaedon Naidu, a top graduate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal for the year 2025, will continue his studies at the University of Oxford.

Naidu graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Statistics.

He also completed majors in Mathematics and Computer Science. He will begin a master’s degree in Statistical Science at Oxford later this year. “I am incredibly grateful and excited for the experiences that lie ahead,” Naidu said.

Naidu said that he originally planned to study Medicine, but later changed to Data Science after discovering a strong interest in Mathematics. For his honours research project, he studied reasons for low debt collection rates in South Africa using real data and statistical models.

His work was considered at a very high academic level by UKZN staff. He said statistics interests him because it helps solve real-world problems and is important in fields like artificial intelligence.

Naidu will start his studies at the Oxford University later this year.
