President Cyril Ramaphosa defended the deployment of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) during a recent parliamentary session.
He explained that the deployment was necessary in order to protect the country and maintain peace and stability.
Ramaphosa said the SANDF plays a significant role in supporting the police and ensuring the safety of citizens during awkward situations. He also stated that the government decisions regarding the deployment are formulated carefully and according to the law.
During the discussion, some members of Parliament questioned the reasons for the deployment and raised concerns about security and government spending.
However, Ramaphosa responded by saying that the safety of South Africans remains a top priority for the government. The President also encouraged cooperation between political parties and security forces to ensure peace and order across the country.
