The Mmamoloko Kubayi, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, has announced key decisions aimed at strengthening oversight, accountability, and the fight against corruption.

According to Capricorn FM, Kubayi revealed that a series of measures will take effect from 1 March 2026.

The station reported that Section 8 of the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Act will officially come into operation, formally establishing an independent complaints and oversight mechanism for the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) within the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The new mechanism will allow members of the public to lodge complaints relating to serious rights violations by IDAC investigators.

It will also enable investigators to report allegations of political interference, undue influence, or obstruction in the execution of their duties.

Kubayi stated that the oversight office will be headed by retired judge Takalani Joseph Raulinga, who has been appointed for a single, non-renewable five-year term.

In a separate development, Capricorn FM further reported that Kubayi has appointed retired Deputy Judge President Phineas Mathale Mojapelo as the designated judge in terms of the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act.

The minister said these decisions form part of broader efforts to strengthen accountability and reinforce the country’s response to corruption.
