A tragedy reportedly happened at a liquor store.
The life of a 49-year-old man was taken during an escalated argument.
The incident took place at a liquor store in Tshiozwi village, in the Tshilwavhusiku policing area, on Saturday, 1 March.
The Vhembe Police Spokesperson Captain Vuledzani Dathi explained that the incident occurred around 22:00.
Allegedly, a conflict erupted between the deceased, Stephens Ramaligela and a 25-year-old suspect, which led to a violent fight at the tarven.
Ramaligela was stabbed on the chest and back with a sharp object and died at the scene.
” When the police arrived, the victim was lying on the ground. We were alerted by members of the community who witnessed the incident, ” said Dathi.
The suspect was arrested the following day and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, 02 March.
His family was devastated. ” This tragedy broke our hearts, we hope the investigation will reveal what exactly happened”, said the deceased’s sister, Ms Dorcus Ramaligela.
Vhamusanda Vho Vhathundimapfura Makhado Sinthumule stated that the incident heightened existing concerns about the number of fatal stabbings at local liquor outlets in recent times involving young people.
He advised young people to refrain from visiting liquor outlets and focus on their studies.
