According to the Citizen News, an alleged part-time lecturer from Tshwane University of Technology was killed in an attack near the Soshanguve campus on Tuesday night, following allegations of being involved in rape cases of two children.
Ward 35 councillor, Kholofelo Mashapa confirmed the attack in a street close to the campus, and that a video of the man’s body lying in the middle of an empty road was seen by the citizen.
According to the citizen, the police confirmed the incident and investigations have been opened in regards to the murder.
“We confirm that a murder case has been opened after receiving a complaint of vigilantism at Soshanguve block L. No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is underway”. Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said.
Mashapa revealed that the lecturer was dragged from his home before the attack.“He was fetched from his home and beaten to death”, Mashapa said.
The Citizen further said that the allegations have not yet been confirmed by the police.
Though the institution confirmed that the lecturer is a staff member of the university, they have not yet responded, the Citizen added.
The Citizen said that authorities have urged community members to allow the law to take its course and refrain from taking matters into their own hands.
