A horrifying, deadly Westbury mass shooting in Johannesburg claimed the lives of two innocent teenage boys leaving five others injured.

This incident occurred on the 21st of October 2025, on a Tuesday. An 18-year-old survivor said that they were just chilling on a veranda making jokes and chatting, when all of a sudden people came into the yard and started shooting at them.

He said that they laid on the floor and he was shot on the ear and twice on his leg and when his friend saw that he was being shot and injured he used his body to shield and save him from the shootout but he was shot to death instead.

He stated how they continued shooting at them up until their bullets run-out. The 18-year-old survivor mentioned that he owes his life to his friend for saving him. The boy was discharged from hospital and and is meant to be going back on Monday for surgery to remove the bullet still lodged in his ear.

Living in constant fear has become a reality for them because this is not the first time something like this happening but something that has occurred before, where a boy who lives in that house was shot on the the leg in July and had to spent two weeks in hospital.

The two teenagers were identified as Tigan du plessis an 18year- old boy and Diegan Ryters, a 17 year-old boy.

The survivor believes that the reason for these shootouts is jealousy. The men who shot at them are jealous of the things they have. The branded clothes and everything else the own.

Them being spoiled children is resulting in them being unfairly killed.
