Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos appoints his assistant coach, Helman Mkhalele as an ideal candidate for his replacement stating that the team will be a success one day only if Mkhalele follows his steps as Head coach.
They had been together over the duration of 4 years now and they had a good partnership together. Hugo encourages his assistant to continue doing a good job. Hugo joined Bafana Bafana team in the year 2021, and he admired all the partnership they had together. He had seen all the effort of his assistant coach and he did not take then for granted.
“If Helaman takes over from me, he can continue our work and continue the philosophy of his team with a little bit more of an African feel, because I’m a European. 95% of the things that Helman thinks about or suggest are the same ideas that I think about. That’s why I’m so happy with him and our work together” said Broos.
Hugo’s concern is that his assistant coach does not have the qualifications to coach a senior team and therefore suggests that he goes for a necessary course that will help gain him the skills. He has been with Bafana Bafana for a while and now his contract of five years has come to an end. However, he will continue to be with them until the 2026 world cup.
