Tebogo Mokoena, a 28-year-old midfielder was suspended and disqualified from 2026 FIFA World Cup. His matter is being taken into consideration as FIFA decided to take this to SAFA(South African Football Associations) by opening a disciplinary case against Mr Mokoena.
Mr Mokoena was given two yellow cards from his previous matches that led him to go through this difficult time of disciplinary hearings. He got his first yellow card against Benin in November 2023. And the second one was in June 2024, against Zimbabwe under FIFA.
Mr Mokoena was given a duration of six(6) days to submit his respond as the case has been moved to the hands of FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
They already made a decision that should he turn out to be guilty, the Bafana Bafana team will have to forfeit their game against Lesotho, along with their score and give Lesotho 3-0, as Mr Mokoena was a player for Bafana Bafana.
