President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo has returned yet again with the trial against the accused who stole the money set to begin.
In the Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo on Monday, the three defendants connected to the heist at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm entered a not guilty plea to the charges against them.The accusations against Immanuela David and his siblings, Florian and Ndilinasho Joseph, were dropped after they stole $580,000 from the Phala Phala game farm in 2020.
The three are accused of stealing, breaking and entering, as well as conspiring to steal while breaking and entering.David is also accused of money laundering. The money was allegedly taken and concealed on a couch on Ramaphosa’s residence.
Only two years after the trio’s arrest, the trial finally got underway after multiple delays. Twenty witnesses are anticipated to testify against the defendants in the case as the State makes its case in court.
