Former soccer player, Malombo Lechaba was found in possession of an unpaid disc licence for one of his cars during a roadblock on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
Malombo Lechaba was one of the legend soccer players during the period of 1970s and 80s, he was a super star favoured by majority of people in this country due to his brilliant and massive performances in the field.
He played for both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs and in the early days of PSL, he was highly respected not only for his talent, but also for his humanity and commitment to helping others in football.
Lechaba admitted to have forgotten to renew the licence, explaining that he owns more than one vehicle. He cooperated with the authorities and agreed to pay the fine. “I’m driving more than one car, and I just forgot to renew this one. It’s a minor thing and I will pay it”, Lechaba said.
He added that he respected the officers for doing their job and stressed the importance of lawfulness in the country. Now retired from professional football, he remains active in the sport by developing young players, sharing the same skills and passion that made him a household name decades ago.
