Kaizer Chiefs are set to part ways with their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, just six games into the 2025 season. The decision comes by mutual agreement, largely driven by personal circumstances, including a serious accident involving Nabi’s wife.
Nabi had been on compassionate leave and briefly returned to coach two games before deciding to step down to focus on his family. He is credited with leading Chiefs to their first trophy in 10 years, winning the Nedbank Cup last season, but the team struggled in the league this season, which also unsettled his position.
The club is now preparing for a transitional phase as they seek a new coach to bring stability and build on Nabi’s legacy. There are also reports that issues around Nabi’s CAF coaching qualifications played a role in the decision, impacting his ability to sit on the bench for African competitions. Chiefs aim to regroup and strengthen the squad as they look ahead to upcoming league and continental matches.
