Motorists are being warned to expect heavy traffic around Moria this afternoon as thousands of Zion Christian Church pilgrims prepare to leave the area following the annual pilgrimage.
The Department of Transport and Community Safety says the church sermon is expected to end at 3pm, with buses expected to start departing from Moria from 4pm.
Heavy traffic is expected on the R71 in both directions and the D4040 between Boyne and Maja, with congestion likely to spill over to the R37 towards Burgersfort and the R579 towards Lebowakgomo.
In the Polokwane direction, motorists can expect increased traffic on the N1 Bypass, R101, R81, N1 northbound, D19 Matlala Road and R567 Gilead Road towards the N11.
Motorists travelling towards Gauteng are also urged to exercise patience, with long queues expected at tollgates due to the high number of buses.
Traffic officers have been deployed around Moria and across Limpopo to monitor traffic and ensure road safety.
