Orlando Pirates have reached an agreement to transfer their reliable centre-back, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire in a deal worth R51 million.

Mbokazi, who is also a Bafana Bafana defender, has already arrived in the United States to finalise the move. After several successful seasons with the Pirates, Chicago Fire saw his potential to help restore the club’s reputation following a tough season where they finished at the bottom of the league. Despite playing 34 games, Chicago Fire only managed to secure 30 points.

The star defender is now expected to share the field with MLS legends, including Lionel Messi. Probepoint 24 will continue to follow this developing story until the transfer is officially finalised.
